Bollywood box-office report of the week
This week's (Wednesday) new release, Yash Raj Films' Salman-Katrina starrer, EK THA TIGER, has embarked on an expected and predicted hurricane like start. The opening is uniformly superb across all circuits and the collections are expected to remain at a high level, at least till a couple of days after Eid. As per early estimations the film may have netted an astonishing and record breaking 29-30 crore (approx.) on the opening day itself! A section of the trade feels that if Eid falls on Monday (20th August), EK THA TIGER may well end up netting in the range of 155-165 crore during the first nine days itself!

From the bunched releases of last week- GANGS OF WASSEYPUR 2, OVERTIMEand SECOND MARRIAGE DOT COM - it was just GOW II (released on Wednesday), which managed to redeem itself. During the first extended weekend (5-days), the Nawazuddin and Huma starrer, GANGS OF WASSYPUR II, has netted a decent 16-17 crores (to be validated) from India. The film may end up as an average fare and would have done better had it not been for the EK TA TIGER wave. The rest of the mentioned releases have been totally rejected.
